1. Trip to the Library

For families who love books head to the nearest Library, it's full of literary treasures for all age groups.

Libraries are also full of games, puzzles, and colouring material, perfect rainy-day distractions.

2. Galway City Museum

Explore the Museum as a "Museum Detective", a great way to encourage learning through drawing, colouring and answering questions.

Head straight for the Spanish Arch, Galway City, ask at the counter for a "Museum Detective" sheet.

3. Swim Time

Leisureland, with its pirate ship and waterslide and a good size separate kiddies pool, shallow at one end, and bubbles for the kiddies to play with, excellent for babies. 7. Cinema

8. Coole Park Visitor Centre

Free and opened daily during the summer from 10-6pm Coole Nature Reserve, Gort, County Galway Visitors Centre contains an audio/visual presentation, "Lady Gregory of Coole", with interesting multi-media exhibitions on "Granddaughters of Lady Gregory" and "Coole Park through the eyes of 'Me and Nu'.

Stop by the adjoining Tearooms and afterwards take a walk in the woods, nicely sheltered from the rain.
